SkinPen Microneedling Procedure
Clients will be cleansed and then numbed for about 30 minutes. Once the numbing is removed, your provider will prep your skin for the actual treatment. Depending on the client’s concerns, your provider will microneedle a ampoule best suited for your concerns, into the skin. The actual microneedling can take anywhere from 15-50 minutes, depending on the area(s) to be treated. Post treatment, your provider will apply another layer of the chosen ampoule all over the skin.
Recovery of SkinPen Microneedling
Directly after treatment, your face may be warm and red. The warmth should die down in a few hours, but you may be red for 1-3 days. Your skin will most likely be dry and potentially flake or peel from days 3-7. If your skin peels or flakes, do not pick and pull at the skin. Please follow your post care directions for best results.
Post treatment, once your skin is no longer warm, you will apply a thin layer of Noon Aesthetics SOS (Smart Occlusive System). For the first 5-7 days post treatment, use a gentle cleanser morning and evening. Use Noon Aesthetics SOS for the first 2-3 days post treatment. From days 3-7, please use Noon Aesthetics OMG (Optimal Moisturizing Guardian). You can begin to use SPF again two days post treatment. Please keep out of the sun and be liberal with your SPF usage post treatment for best results. Avoid heat (exercise, hot showers, saunas, etc.) for the first 48 hours post treatments. You may return to using your actives, exfoliators and retinoids once your skin has completely healed, 5-7 days post treatment.
Potential Risks of SkinPen Microneedling
Microneedling, including FDA-approved treatments like SkinPen, is generally considered safe, but there are potential risks and side effects to be aware of, including but not limited to: Redness, swelling, tenderness, bleeding and bruising, infections, delayed healing, and changes in pigmentation. Following the post care care, staying out of the sun and being liberal with sun protection will minimize potential risks and allow for best results.
