TCA Cross In Bellevue, WA

TCA Cross is a non-invasive treatment for atrophic, pitted, and depressed acne scars. Chemical reconstruction of skin scars (CROSS) elevates these scars and is generally done in conjunction with lasers or microneedling. A high concentration of TCA (trichloroacetic acid) is placed directly into the depressed scar to promote dermal remodeling.

Who is a Good Candidate for TCA Cross?

Those who wish…

  • To diminish depressed scarring
  • To reduce the size of enlarged pores

TCA Cross Procedure

The client's skin will be cleansed and prepped. Procedures typically take between 30 and 60 minutes to perform, depending on the size and location of the treated area. Your esthetician will apply and layer the TCA solution to the scars. Once your esthetician sees a clinical endpoint, the solution will be neutralized. Post care products will be applied.

Noticeable results can take several weeks to months to fully develop, as the skin remodels and new collagen forms. We recommend a series of six, along with the correct home care to see best results. Frequency of treatments is every 5 weeks, no sooner.

Potential Risks of TCA Cross

While TCA CROSS is effective for reducing deep acne scars, it's essential to be aware of possible side effects. These may include temporary redness, swelling, and scabbing in the treated areas. In some cases, changes in skin pigmentation, such as hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, can occur, particularly in individuals with darker skin tones. Proper aftercare, including sun protection and gentle skincare, helps minimize risks and supports the healing process.

Recovery of TCA Cross

After the TCA is applied, the treated area usually turns white (known as "frosting", aka clinical endpoint) due to the immediate chemical reaction. This whitening typically fades after a few hours. Redness & inflammation is normal. Over the next several days, the treated spots will form a small scab. Usually, the treated areas will look worse before they look better. The goal is to damage the scar tissue. The scabs usually flake off within a week or so. This is a normal part of the healing process.

Immediately after treatment, apply SOS (continue to apply daily for 7-10 days). Three days post treatment, at night, dab a tiny amount of SuperCop onto the scar and immediately wipe off. Itching and tingling is normal and should subside after 15 minutes. Follow with SOS. Continue until treated areas are healed at which point you’ll resume your usual skincare products. Scabbing is normal. Do not pick, pull, or exfoliate the scab. The scabs will still on for approximately 7-10 days.
