IPL Photofacial Procedure

The client's skin will be cleansed and prepped. Procedures typically take between 30 and 60 minutes to perform, depending on the size and location of the treated area. Your esthetician will apply ultra sound gel as a conductor for the intense pulsed light energy. Eye protection is worn. While most people are find with the light pulses, the treatment may feel like a rubber band snap. The tip of the machine is cool to the touch, and we have a chiller for maximum comfort.

While some individuals will notice significant results after just one treatment, many patients will require multiple sessions in order to achieve the desired results. We recommend a series of three, along with the correct home care to see best results. It is also possible that additional touch-up treatments will be needed at a future.

Potential Risks of IPL Photofacial

IPL is safe when done by a trained technician. But the treatment could cause hormonal brown spots to flare up. Additionally, people with darker skin tones may experience hypo-pigmentation, and are advised against electing this treatment. You could have other unwanted side effects, such as: redness, swelling, hyperpigmentation, blistering, and infection. Contact your doctor if you feel sick after your treatment or your symptoms get worse.

Recovery of IPL Photofacial

You may experience a mild sunburn sensation following the treatment that is usually gone within a few hours. The first 3-7 days, you may have some redness, swelling, and sensitivity. Do not use actives on the skin for a week. Pigmented areas (freckles, sunspots) will darken and may “coffee ground” - come to the surface.
